Michael Pollan (author of Food Rules – a book everyone could benefit from reading) suggests that if your grandmother wouldn’t recognize it, you shouldn’t eat it. That is a concept that is particularly beautiful to me, and applies to your skin as easily as it applies to your diet. As mentioned elsewhere on the site, there are a few ingredients that are manufactured in a laboratory, although they are plant derived and biodegradable.

Most of the ingredients in our products, however, are gorgeous enough to eat (sometimes I have to remind myself not to lick the spoon when I am making products – I promise I don’t!). In our soaps, we use only organic, extra-virgin olive oil, the same as you put on your gourmet salad. Our bath products contain elegant, dried, organic flowers and herbs; pure, organic buttermilk; and hand- harvested sea salt from France. Facial products contain the most sublime oils and extracts available. All essential oils used in Osmia products have been selected for their extraordinary quality alone – price is not the deciding factor – ever.
